"Change is the only constant in life."

 Joan Spence, M.Ed., RCC

YMCA Family Support Coordinator-Young Parent Program

I am a Registered Clinical Therapist specializing in Life Transitions.

Individuals, couples and families can feel anxious, stressed, overwhelmned and in some cases 'stuck' when changes occur, such as:

  • moving in together or getting married
  • transitioning to parenthood & bringing baby home
  • students struggling at school
  • significant life events
  • transitioning to an empty 'nest'
  • experiencing separation/divorce

Mission

It’s my sincere desire to foster healthy relationships within family systems, helping clients navigate life’s inevitable chaos, providing the tools to grow and maintain open lines of communication, and raise children in an ever-changing environment. Utilizing the natural synergy between mind and body, I support clients to connect to their inherent life force energy, allowing them to survive and thrive in challenging situations.

Feeling anxious, overwhelmed or 'stuck'?

Together we will come up with a plan for your well-being when life's challenges have you feeling stuck.  I use Positive Psychology* and a client-centered approach, focused on your needs, with strategies to help you shift forward.

I use an integrative counselling/coaching approach based in various psychological theoritical perspectives.
